Good news..Richard Briers, James Marsters and Alan Dale
Bad News….Martha….but maybe she’ll create an interesting dynamic and the other duller characters will take a back seat?

I think I’ve just wet myself…LOL!
I’ve just read on Digital Spy (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/a61862/spike-from-buffy-heads-to-torchwood.html) that the wonderful James Masters is rumoured to be staring in Torchwood this coming season and is filming in Cardiff next month. ‘Captain Jack’ and ‘Spike’ together ::SIGH:: I hope they do a better job than the last season of Angel where he was totally wasted!

Captain Jack is back and how! How fantastic was Dr Who tonight?!? Russell T Davis has finally pulled his finger out and written a brilliant story arc. There was the humanity (the exchange between Martha and the alien, and Jack and the Dr ) and humour (Jack and everyone) that made the series such a hit in the first place and has been sadly lacking in this series of Dr Who and I’m sad to say Torchwood.
John Barrowman was a joy as the flirty ‘Omnisexual’ Jack, he showed the charm and sexiness that has been lacking in Torchwood’s Captain Jack. If he’d been written like that in Torchwood the series would have been so much better received.
I really wanted to like Torchwood and I did stick with it to the end, but the characters were just lacked any charm and were unlikeable. Yes I know it wasn’t aimed at kids (no shit!) but Gwen was a good character, as was Owen - shame about Ianto and Toshiko who both frankly should have been killed off in the first 4 episodes.
Derek Jacobi was great in ‘Who’ tonight and the transformation into John Simm was just great - I’m so psyched for the next two episodes. I love John Simm as an actor and I can’t wait for him to be evil as ‘The Master’ - Vote Saxon
If only the rest of the series had been as good…..

Woo hoo, how on earth did I miss this story??? We’ve really enjoyed Torchwood, however there is something about it that doesn’t *quite* gel. I don’t know if it’s that Captain Jack hasn’t been given enough action and it’s all been about Gwen?? It just seems to miss the emotional connection that Dr Who does so effortlessly. However I still love it and I have high hopes for series 2 ![]()
