o2 iPhone contract and other stuff

Yes I’ve changed the blog again, I just couldn’t stand seeing that daft picture of me and my lovely baby everytime I logged in!

Anyhoo…..o2 have bettered the iPhone deal considerably. I received an sms this morning telling me that as of February the tariff will increase from 200 talktime minutes to 600 minutes and 200 texts to 500 texts! Throw in the unlimited data and I am a very happy girl.

I still love my iPhone lots it’s certainly the best phone I’ve ever had. I tried to use and having tried to use my friends Sony Erickson yesterday and I was like an old lady who needed instructions (and bear in mind I had one a year ago!).

In with the other stuff, my resignation seems to have lasted about 3 weeks. They’re going to hire me back at an hourly rate to complete the network move and other migration issues. Part of me is delighted as I’ve just had my credit card bill in - eek! But the other part of me that was looking forward to sitting on my arse for a couple of months is quite pissed I know I could have said no…but it’s money in the bank ::SIGH:: Still maybe it’ll only be for a couple of months…

Okay i’m in bed ill with a stupid cold and I’m trying to keep quiet so Betty doesn’t know I’m here and will then bark her head off to play with me. So what else can I do other than surf the web very quietly

I’ve been here 2 days now and I have found some just brilliant sites. Apologies if you already know about them, but I’m now totally and utterly in love with BigHugeLabs.com - what a genius site!. It’s allowed me to do all sorts of gorgeous things with my flickr pictures. I’ve done a Polaroid frame of this self portrait by Mini Geek, which I think looks great

And they also have a very nice Flickr Sidebar app which I’ve just added to Violet Posy and I’m about to add to here. Also there is a custom WordPress Header tool, which is also great for lazy/time poor people like me

The other site I’ve just come across by playing blog to blog (click on enough blogroll links and you find some gems) is Auntie Pea’s Blog. Her site and the work she’s done for other blogs via Eclectic Whimsy Designs is just stunning,you can colour me green

I wanna do stuff like that!!! All I need is some talent (sadly lacking!) and the right tools on the Mac as my Win Laptop is now offline and I can’t get it back on the internet. If anyone can suggest a webdesign programme for the Mac preferably cheap/free I’d be grateful.

My initial reaction when I saw Shawn’s work was to beg her to do my Blogs and pay her. Then I remembered that in 2 weeks I won’t have one of those job thingy’s that pay for fun stuff like that. So I’m now reading up everything I can find on how to do graphic design. Still if I get the contracting work that’s being mooted for me, then I’m mailing her in a heartbeat.

Right I’m off to re-design Geek Mum, I’m now very ashamed at my boring layout!

iPhone Software Update

It’s good, really good…

The being able to customize your ‘desktop’ is very very cool, the wiggling icons are a very nice touch, and I’ve finally got rid of stocks and shares (who uses that?!?)

The ‘GPS’ triangulation is absolutely bloody fabulous!  It got me within about 3 streets, which will come in very handy next time I get lost driving across the fens or Norfolk.  I’ve tried to get the ‘Show Traffic/Hide Traffic’ information working but it doesn’t seem to but maybe that’s just o2 being crap?  I’ll play with it more tomorrow and see if that’s working better then.

Finally they have added group sms, which I’ve been whinging about since I got my iPhone.  I’d still like to be able to sms out my photos as well as e-mail them, but that is a minor gripe.

One word of warning, when it’s finished upgrading and has re-booted, it loses the o2 network.  So you then have to manually reboot it and reconnect it to your mac or pc and it finds the network again (phew!)

Object of Lust: Macbook Air

Oh crap! I’ve only had my Macbook for a few months and those evil bastards at Apple announce the release of the Macbook Air today.

Here’s the spec:

3 lbs., 0.16″-.76″ thickness, a 13.3″ fullsize display, full size keyboard (backlit), multi-touch gestures, iSight camera, 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of memory, 80GB hard drive (64GB SSD optional), 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and Magsafe connector, flip down door (with USB 2, Micro-DVI, and headphone jack), built in 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

Although not stunningly different from the spec of my Macbook (other than the new trackpad features), it’s really beautiful. I look forward to seeing one in the flesh at the Apple Store.

The other big announcement was the software upgrade for the iPhone (v1.3). I’m off to upgrade my software now and see what happens
