Geek T-shirts

September 30, 2006

I just wanted to give a shout out to http://www.syswear.com/ I’ve just bought Paul two really fantastically geeky t-shirts for work, and they came up really *huge* so I’ve asked to send them back and I’ve had an instant response that it’s no trouble. A great online seller, I shall be buying from them again :)

David Cameron’s Blog

September 30, 2006

Well done David Cameron for launching his own video blog, at least he’s actually trying to communicate with the electorate, rather that just having some PR soundbites on the 6 o’clock news. It’s not the most fantastic or personal of sites but it’s better than nothing and I’ll be interested in seeing how it develops. Check it out here http://webcameron.org.uk/

Mad Dogs and Englishmen….

September 14, 2006

Some of my friends are just a little nuts bless them :)

Here’s an article (thanks Cambridge Evening News) about two of them:

We can prove jokers wrong, say Skoda duo

TWO car enthusiasts are gearing up to travel from Calais to Naples in a banger rally.

Friends Steve West and John Kennedy hope to raise £1,000 for Childline when they take their 1989 Skoda Rapid on the 1,500-mile journey from Calais to Italy.

All the cars in the rally must be worth £100 or less.

Steve, 34, said: “We always enjoy driving and we’re looking forward to the rally.

Skodas have a bad reputation but they are reliable cars. Still, we’ll probably be glad to have completed it as we’re going through some big mountains.”

The rear-engine car, affectionately known as Nadeza, was bought by Steve for £50 three years ago. Most of the cars are scrapped when they reach Naples, but the duo hope to bring theirs back intact.

All cars must have a valid MoT to take part, and when places opened up for competitors this year, they were filled within just over four minutes.

Steve, who lives near Huntingdon, together with John, 39, from Chatteris, will take the car through three countries during the four-day competition, which starts on September 22.

The pair, who both work in IT, have paid for the trip themselves, so all money raised will go directly to charity.

Intranet..

September 3, 2006

So tomorrow I launch my new intranet at work. I’ve already got about 40 people using it and testing it, but tommorrow it goes live with 300 users. I’m sitting here wondering if I got all the links working and if the mini-sites are all they could be?

I have to say that for once Microsoft have got it right. Share Point is just wonderful, and I have no idea why they haven’t publised it more than they have? I’m really looking forward to having a look at Share Point 2007, however if the network Nazi’s take over my network, that’s never going to happen :( They are still on NT4 and 2000…..fwits!
